Stream Asset Inventory
Project approaches have been developed at both the local and regional level, each of which has multiple tasks. This project will integrate the tasks and goals from each agency’s approach, and will require data collection, mapping, field analyses, public education and planning. The project will culminate in a natural resources inventory and the development of maps designating sensitive areas. Other project goals include heightened public awareness as to the importance of natural resource conservation, development of new planning tools, and the adoption of new development plans. At the local scale, the maps will be used to develop stream buffer zones that could be used to advance a County-wide stream buffer ordinance as well as promote regional conservation policies. Within the mapped stream buffer zones, riparian vegetation, steep slopes and wetlands will be included promoting a comprehensive assessment program that will enable the protection of these vulnerable natural resources throughout the County.
