East Lenexa Detention Study
The city of Lenexa, in cooperation with the Stormwater Management Advisory Council (SMAC), is conducting a study of detention basins in East Lenexa. The purpose of the Eastern Lenexa Detention Study is to develop a strategy for improving and maintaining the detention basins in East Lenexa with the goal of potentially refining the floodplain, providing long-term stability, and addressing water quality issues. The study will inventory existing detention basins in the east Lenexa area, evaluate hydrologic and hydraulic conditions through modeling, assess the geomorphology of effected streams and provide a stream ecology analysis. This study aims to provide the city direction for addressing the current stormwater controls in place and implementing maintenance requirements as well as addressing water quality concerns for the Mill Creek watershed.
